CHOOSING A CASKET OR URN

At Osborne’s we are proud of the services we have to offer our client families. From purpose built facilities to custom built hearses we believe we can offer you any type of service and celebration for your loved one. We deal with service providers that, like us, strive for excellence in all they do.

Choosing a casket or Urn

Osbornes Funeral Directors have a large range of caskets and urns available. They vary considerably from traditional solid woods, to lightly oiled natural timbers and can include colourful painted or patterned and themed caskets.

Choices can depend on what you can afford, what appeals, and what you regard as a fitting tribute to the deceased. At Osbornes Funeral Directors we are pleased to be able to offer a wide range of alternative, eco-friendly options such as woollen or wicker caskets and sustainable NZ pine and Rimu caskets which will help lessen your environmental footprint.

Our staff will be able to talk you through the selection and you are able to view the options in our on site showroom or online so that you can compare styles. To view further information on MDF caskets please click here.

Things to think about

Whether a death occurs in a hospital, a rest home or at a private home a doctor needs to certify the death by completing a Medical Certificate of Causes of Death.

A call to us for advice and assistance at this time will help clarify the situation.

For example; if the death occurred as a result of an accident and the coroner is involved, a funeral director would be contacted to convey the body to a public mortuary. The family of the deceased will still need to organise a funeral with a funeral director of their choice. They are under no obligation to use the funeral director contracted for the original transfer.

After the Death

After the death of a family member or close friend, it is important to know that you can depend on experienced, professional people to make all the arrangements to ensure the funeral flows smoothly.

It is important that you choose the funeral ceremony that is right for you and your family.

Osbornes Funeral Directors can guide you through the choices available, and will take care of all the details. Our caring team of professionals will liaise with clergy and celebrants, doctors, hospitals, government departments, coroners and other officials, crematoriums and cemetery authorities so you don’t have to worry.

We can also arrange music and musicians including an organist, place notices in the newspapers, and provide Hearses on the day, order family flowers, organise the audio, recording or live streaming of the service, we can also arrange the placement of ashes and memorials, and anything else you require.

Staff at Osbornes Funeral Directors are available to speak to local community groups and schools about funerals, and we are also pleased to host community groups at our premises.
